Tokyo CityFont began when it was provided as a typeface by Nippon Design Center for indicating town blocks. With a focus on the theme ‘stylishness,’ the font features moderate modulation and slight narrowness. Later, a new design was produced in consideration of compatibility with buildings in Tokyo upon adding signs for public transport, etc., which is the important conventional theme, at the time of releasing the commercial version.
The overall design has a geometric atmosphere with soft outside lines and solid, straight inside lines. Also, the font is available from basic to condensed, so as to be functional in a variety of applications.
